The last time I spoke to the Destroy The Runner camp was earlier this year, and the guys were giving Ryan's Rock Show exclusive details on their new album which they were getting ready to record. The new offering was going to include a number of guest appearances: Jordan Mancino (As I Lay Dying), Jake Luhrs (August Burns Red), Micah Kinard (Oh, Sleeper), and Bruce Fitzhugh (Living Sacrifice). But then randomly a few days ago the band announced that they were breaking up -- midway in between tracking their new record. I got a hold of vocalist Chad Ackerman to get the scoop on what went down -- and no, it doesn't appear to be a hiatus. Listen below. 

Destroy The Runner has released an official statement in regards to disbanding. Read below:

"To all of our fans that have become friends, we wish to thank you for your support and dedication to us, as a band and as individuals. Without you, Destroy the Runner would not have been able to have had the opportunities allowed to us along the way. We all posses an insurmountable gratitude for any and every one that has given our music a chance. There is an even greater gratitude we posses towards anyone who has helped us in any way on the road, or at home. We have been fortunate enough to have met some of the most incredible people on our journeys, and we thank all of you for imparting your fervor on us. We hope to see you all again one day. You have aided in our personal struggles and decisions as well. So, as words could never truly express our sentiments, thank you."

"It is with this in mind that we wish to inform you that our time has run its course. We unfortunately must embrace an indefinite hiatus. We have sought to maintain musical integrity and honesty within all facets of our functioning, and, unfortunately, are not able to do so at this point in time. We have grown busier as the pains of real life and financial responsibilities keep us from a full time emersion into our passion for music. This has allowed compromise to enter the creative process. As soon as we could perceive this, we understood that it was time to give up the ghost, as compromise is the last thing we ever wish to entertain. This is the harsh face of reality."

"Please be assured that past and present band members will forever remain lifelong friends. We have bonded in a way that cannot be described. We can each personally call every member, past and present, a brother."

"?With that being said, music will never fall far from any one of our lives. There are several side projects already underway and hopefully each and every one will reach your hearts and ears as Destroy the Runner has. Keep on the lookout for a softer, more experimental project with Nick, Duane, Marc, Jeremiah and several others called Other Mountains. Also check out Chapter 14 with Chad and Tanner. And for the super heavy fans, be on the lookout for a very heavy, experimental band with Nick, Duane (vocals), Kyle (from Thieves and Liars), and our guitar tech Jason that  is yet to be named. It would not be far fetched if several other projects came out of Destroy the Runner. We will keep you informed on any music created or shows performed by any of these side projects."

In a recent interview on Ryan's Rock Show, Destroy The Runner revealed that their forthcoming record will contain a number of guest appearances, including As I Lay Dying drummer Jordan Mancino. Though the band declined to comment on other possible guests, vocalist Chad Ackerman commented on the band's upcoming plans:

"I am going to coffee with Jordan Mancino this week. Then going to the zoo with Jake Luhrs (August Burns Red). I also am giving a high 5 to Micah Kinard (Oh Sleeper). Bruce Fitzhugh (Living Sacrifice) is sending me a chicken."

The band will be entering the studio in February to record a follow up to 2008's "I, Lucifer".

Destroy The Runner are finishing up pre-production and will be entering the studio in two weeks to record a follow up to 2008's "I, Lucifer". The group's forthcoming record will feature a number of guest appearances, including Jordan Mancino (As I Lay Dying) who will be handling drum duties for the entire record. The band tells Ryan's Rock Show that their new material is "a perfect cross between 'Saints' and 'I, Lucifer'." The record is expected out later this year.

Additionally, Ryan's Rock Show recently conducted an interview with Destroy The Runner. The band discusses their recently released B-side, "Sinners", as well as gives details on the upcoming album. The interview can be heard here.

Tough I don't really like to do phoners anymore for Ryan's Rock Show, I've been hearing that a lot has been going on with the Destroy The Runner camp -- so I decided to get the dudes on the phone. The band just released a B-side to their album "Saints", called "Sinners", this past Friday through online outlets (iTunes, Rhapsody, etc.), and they are currently in pre-production for a new album. I hit up Chad and Duane to get the 411 on all Destroy The Runner happenings.

Destroy The Runner have posted a teaser of an unreleased b-side track, "Sinners", on Myspace. The song will be made available for online purchase through iTunes, Rhapsody, and Amazon tomorrow.
