fall out boy

With Knives, featuring Josh Newton (ex-Every Time I Die, The Damned Things) and recently joined Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy, The Damned Things), will enter a Kansas City studio in February to begin tracking their debut EP.

Originally formed as Newton's solo project, the newly formed band plans to tour in support of the EP, Trohman stated, adding "We plan on putting it out ourselves using our Son Of Man thing as a record label. The plan is to release it as a 10'' and download only, considering more people own and use a computer these days than a CD player."

A few weeks ago it was revealed that Fall Out Boy drummer Andy Hurley will be filling in for Earth Crisis drummer Dennis Merrick on the band's upcoming April/May tour with First Blood and Thick As Blood.

Merrick will perform on the first four dates or the tour; Hurley will handle drumming duties on the remaining dates.

Hurley comments: "Earth Crisis is one of my favorite bands ever. They are the reason why I am vegan and straight edge. The origins of most of my philosophical/political beliefs come from them introducing me to a whole new way of thinking. When I was asked to fill in on the upcoming tour, I was beyond stoked. It felt like being called up to the major league, and I think that this will be the most fun I will have on a tour. Be sure to come check it out because this is a band whose songs beat in my heart and who have never forgotten how to write brutally awesome songs."

Fall Out Boy drummer Andy Hurley will be filling in for Earth Crisis drummer Dennis Merrick during part of the band's current tour.

The band commented via Twitter:

"As sad as we are that Dennis won't be able to do the entire tour, we are really excited to have Andy Hurley filling in on drums!"

According to Rock Sound, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley of Fall Out Boy, Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano of Anthrax, and Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die have joined forces to create a metal band dubbed The Damned Things.

The band is said to have already demoed over 15 songs, and will begin recording before Christmas. Additional information can be found of the band's Myspace.

Burning Empires have completed recording their upcoming EP. The band stated that they have "come to the process of getting the final mix and getting this record to the people. As some of you may know, BE consists of members from other bands that have been on and are currently on other record labels, so releasing material can be a little harder than you would expect. None the less you should be able to expect a new song on the burning empires Myspace sometime in mid Dec/early Jan."

The band have also posted a studio video that can be seen below:

Misery Signals will be taking time off to focus on side projects. The band issued the following statement:

"After grinding as hard as we have this year (as well as the 7 previous years of grindage) we are planning to take a little down time from MS. A bit of time to chill out.

I know what a few you out there may be thinking when you read the words "time off", but don't fear, Misery Signals is our passion, and has been the driving in force in our lives for the last 7 years. We plan to come back at writing the next album fresh faced and inspired, ready to make a great record.

Over the next few months we plan to spend time writing our next record and working on other musical/personal endeavors.
