Mastodon announced that they're working on a new album.

"[W]e have been VERY busy writing and putting songs together for the next studio MASTODON album," the band said. "We are down at our space hammering out riffs that can be friends and working our fingers to the bone to put out another great album."

The forthcoming record will be a follow-up to 2011's The Hunter.

 

The Ocean will join Mastodon on a few European dates this spring.

This year's tour will feature four stages: The Rockstar Energy Drink Main Stage, The Jagermeister Stage, Musicians Institute Stage, and the Sumerian/Headbang For The Highway Concourse Stage, featuring local bands that will be announced in June.

The internet is abuzz this morning on what is said to be a leaked lineup for this summer's Mayhem Fest.

According to this radio station, the bands below are set to appear on the festival. So far no official confirmation has been made; an announcement is expected on Monday.

Mastodon announced that they will be recording a song for the new Monsters, Inc. movie.

Titled Monsters University, a prequel to Monsters, Inc., the Disney film is scheduled to open in theaters in June 2013.

Mastodon are currently at work on material for a new album. The band is expected to enter the studio shortly after the New Year.

 

West End Motel, featuring Mastodon's Brent Hinds, have set Only Time Can Tell as the title of their new album.

The effort is due out October 30th, according to Amazon.
 

A new track from Primate (Mastodon, Brutal Truth) called "Pride" is streaming below.

The song comes off Draw Back A Stump, the band's album, due for re-release on July 3rd through Relapse.

 

Primate, featuring Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher and Brutal Truth vocalist Kevin Sharp, will release their album Draw Back A Stump on July 3rd through Relapse.

The album was self-released by the band in March 2011 via a limited CD pressing of 1000.

The clip comes from the band's performance in London, UK at Brixton Academy earlier this year.
