A new track from The Mars Volta, "Zed and Two Naughts," will appear on the forthcoming PlayStation video game soundtrack, MLB 12: The Show, according to PlayStation.com.

The game will be released on March 6th, while the band's album is expected out this year.

The Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez will handle bass duties for Le Butcherettes on their upcoming November dates

The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman has issued an update on two of his side projects: an unnamed collaboration with Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery, and ex-The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen, and an additional project with Thursday vocalist Geoff Rickly.

"[Avery] and I plan on locking ourselves in my studio for days without food or sunlight," says Weinman on the Mastodon/ex-Jane's Addiction/ex-Mars Volta project. "I can’t believe the guy who wrote the 'Mountain Song' bass line is gonna be sleeping on my floor. I’m sure [Hinds] and I will have some pretty serious sessions on tour in Nov as well."

Song snippets of the material are expected to surface in the coming weeks.

Weinman also commented on Cut Throat Tactics, a collaboration featuring Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly with members of Ink & Dagger, in which he lends his drumming talents.

"I have come to the conclusion that beating on things rules. Doing it in time to music makes it I guess, a little more productive. I have been tracking drums for some new tunes we have been writing all week."

The other members of The Dillinger Escape Plan have also been at work on various projects. Guitarist Jeff Tuttle’s Old Gods recently released new material, which can be heard on Bandcamp; Bassist Liam Wilson has been busy making music with members of Nanos Operetta; drummer Billy Rymer continues to spend his free time with North Korea; and as previously reported, vocalist Greg Puciato has been working on a collaboration with Soulfly mastermind Max Cavalera.

Live videos of a few new tracks from The Mars Volta -- reportedly titled "I’m Not Running Away," "Trinkets Pale The Room," and "Walk The Plank" -- have surfaced online. Watch below.

The footage comes from the band's July 3rd show in Helsinki, Finland.

Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds is at work on a currently untitled project with The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery, and former The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen.

"We tried to get together and do an album, but there's been no time," Hinds told Noisecreep. "We want to record crazy stuff and Ben is working on that, but it's been hard to get together."
