Iommi Doesn’t Deny Black Sabbath Reunion

by | Aug 17, 2011

Following yesterday’s Black Sabbath’s reunion announcement, which was later debunked by guitarist Tony Iommi, Birmingham Mail is now reporting that Iommi has refused to deny that the band is reforming with its original lineup.

Iommi manager Ralph Baker said Iommi “was not saying that it wasn’t true.”

Comments Baker, “We haven’t got anything in place. He’s not denying that the guys have been talking but there’s nothing in the way that’s been implied in the statements that you made.”

Baker added, “He made [the comments] to [Birmingham Mail] in June and he felt that he made them…off-the-record.”

Iommi was upset that the reunion story had been reported. Birmingham Mail stated that it was merely confirming news that was originally published on MetalTalk.net a day prior.

“I don’t consider some dodgy little website a trigger [to publish],” he said. “It was picked up by everybody because a lot of these kids have nothing better to do than simply pick up a story from one site and run with it and see what happens.”
