I, The Breather Drummer Quits Band

by | Aug 2, 2013

I, The Breather drummer Morgan Wright announced that he is quitting the band.

“For the past 5 years I’ve dedicated my time and energy into something I have loved so much,” he said. “I pursued every opportunity with passion and never once took any one of them for granted. I started ITB in my basement with my best friend at the time Justin Huffman & Shawn Spann… Just the three of us jamming out & making music that we loved. It later evolved into what you know today as ‘I the Breather.’ ITB has been the best thing I have ever been a part of. It’s been a roller coaster ride, an unending thrill ride. Every member past and present; looking past all the hard times we faced I think of the good times we embraced together.”

“There comes a time when you get burnt out doing something. You try and try to stay motivated and make things happen, but it doesn’t quite go according to plan. The reason behind me stepping down is: ‘I’m’ simply burnt out. This band has created me to look at playing the drums as a task and an unwanted duty that I sometimes would dread to have to do. Something I love so dearly has now become so hard for me to sit down and feel motivated to do. It’s as simple as that. I shouldn’t feel burnt out about playing drums for thousands of kids and doing what I love. It shouldn’t be that way. Me leaving has nothing to do with the friendship & brotherhood I have with the members of this band. They’re the definition of brothers & have supported me in every way possible.”

Wright’s last show with the band will be on Sunday at Intensity Music Festival in Arlington, VA.
