The New Mastodon Album is Almost Done

by | Jan 31, 2014

Hey, you know there’s a new Mastodon album in the works? The band have been in the studio as of late and they’re almost done tracking the effort.

Vocalist/guitarist Brent Hinds posted the photo above on his Instagram a few days ago and said they’re “getting close” to finishing their follow-up to 2011′s The Hunter. They’ve been recording it with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Deftones, Asking Alexandria), and it’s expected out sometime this year.

On a side note, we got wind that Mastodon may be planning a tour with Gojira and Kvelertak. Nothing has been confirmed yet though. But we’ll let you know if it goes down.

Also, as you’re aware, Mastodon’s Troy Sanders is in that new supergroup Killer Be Killed, where he’ll be sharing vocal duties with Soulfly’s Max Cavalera and The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato. They’ve got a debut album in the works for this year too. According to Puciato, “It’s a bit of SABBATH-y doom, a bit of thrash, a bit of hardcore and punk.”
