This is Serious Business, United Nations (ex-Thursday) + Tour Dates!

by | Jun 3, 2014

We asked Geoff Rickly if it was a humbling experience playing in a successful band when we interviewed Thursday in 2009. “I think it’s a little of both,” he said. “Sometimes it makes you feel great about yourself because there are all these people singing, but other times you haven’t showered in three days because you can’t — and that’s very humbling.”

You may want to refrain from bathing at the moment — at least until you hear the new track from United Nations, Rickly’s grindcore project featuring members of Pianos Become The Teeth. It’s a bit dirty, and it’s one of the most promising upcoming releases of the summer.

The band’s new album is called The Next Four Years and it features tracks that were originally supposed to be released as separate 7″s, which got banned in various countries. Now it’s being put out in the form of a box set. How’s that for a graduation gift?

If that’s not enough, United Nations will be hitting the road in August — mostly on the East Coast. Why no West Coast dates, Geoff?  smh.

Here’s a stream of their new song “Serious Business” along with a video of their full set at the Ottobar in Baltimore late last year.

The Next Four Years comes out July 15th on Temporary Residence.
