One of our favorite instrumental bands from LA is Barrows. Hands down. We’ve been following the group ever since their 2011 album Imprecari Island. And 2014’s Red Giant turned us into fanboys. Now they’re back with album #3.
The new record is called Obsidion. It’s a 6-track effort that’s getting released as a 2xLP (remember their songs are long af).
What should you expect? Progressive, spacey psych rock — pretty much a mix of early King Crimson, Pink Floyd, John Carpenter, and Goblin.
The record was written by the band’s own Jim Leonard and Richy Epolito. It was recorded and mixed by the pair along with Sean Foye. Plus mastered by Eroc from the legendary Krautrock band Grobschnitt.
Obsidion will be released May 26th — digitally through the band and on vinyl through German label Tonzonen Records.
In May the band will be doing a residency at The Echo in LA every Monday. They’ll also be hitting the road in support of the release. Dates TBA.
