Dead Cross streaming new song Grave Slave

by | May 4, 2017

One record we’re pretty stoked about this summer is the debut album from Dead Cross — the band that features Faith No More vocalist Mike Patton, Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies), Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox, Head Wound City) and Michael Crain (Retox) .

“Let’s be honest, being in a band like this at almost 50 years old is a little comical,” Patton told Rolling Stone. “I’m not some young tough guy trying to prove a point anymore. For me to make a record like this, it’s entirely a musical adventure. I just think it’s fun, and it makes me smile and laugh a lot.”

The forthcoming self-titled debut album was recorded last year with producer Ross Robinson (Glassjaw, At The Drive-In). It’s 10 tracks that hark back to the early days of hardcore.

Patton says, “[I]t is a traditional hardcore record. It is very pointed, direct and visceral. Like, I wasn’t going to play keyboards, add samples or any kind of orchestration. It was like, ‘Yo, just go for it.’ In some ways, it reminded me of stuff that we had collectively all grown up with and loved when we were like teenagers – bands like the Accüsed, Deep Wound or Siege, stuff that was just brutal, uncompromising and right to the point. I was listening to all those bands again before this came to be, so it was already back infused in my blood. And now I got a chance to do a pencil-in-your-eye record.”

Here’s a stream of their new track “Grave Slave.”

Dead Cross comes out August 4th through Patton’s own Ipecac Recordings.

All That Remains: The Ryan’s Rock Show Interview

First week numbers are in for All That Remains’ new album For We Are Many — the record sold nearly 30,000 units in the first seven days of its release, landing at number 10 on the Billboard 200. That’s a pretty crazy number considering I don’t...
