In a 2010 interview with Ryan Minic of Ryan’s Rock Show, Alexia Rodriguez, Caleb Clifton, and Greg Kerwin of Eyes Set to Kill discussed their upcoming album Broken Frames and their experiences on the road. The band had just finished recording with producer Andrew Wade (A Day to Remember) -- their first time working with a producer -- which challenged them to push their sound further. The album, described as both heavier and more melodic than previous releases, saw Alexia Rodriguez expanding her vocal range in ways she hadn’t explored before.
The band reflected on how constant touring had shaped them musically, learning from the bands they shared the stage with. They recounted crazy tour stories, including a near-crisis with a flat tire and no money, only to be rescued by fans who recognized them on the road and helped them get to the venue.
Despite the grind of touring, the band admitted that being home felt more draining than life on the road, saying they could only handle two weeks at home before itching to get back out. They also talked about their wild experience playing in Brazil, where fans were so intense they had to be escorted everywhere by security.
Excited for what was ahead, they were gearing up for Warped Tour 2010, playing the full tour for the first time thanks to Ernie Ball’s stage sponsorship. They also teased their last record with Suburban Noize Records, hinting that their future was uncertain, but they were open to wherever the journey took them.
The band shared their influences, from Blink-182 to The Fall of Troy and Cursive, and had a candid discussion about Lady Gaga’s artistry, Michael Jackson’s influence, and the power of pop songwriting.
When asked about personal goals, their aspirations were simple—keep touring, keep making music, and one day, have enough money to buy a house together so they didn’t have to live with their parents.
