In a 2007 interview with Ryan Minic of Ryan’s Rock Show, Haste the Day sit down backstage at the Pomona stop of Warped Tour. The band opens up about everything from tour life and faith to hot goth girls, rash outbreaks, and dining hall drama, proving that life on the road is unpredictable—but always entertaining.
The interview kicks off with Ryan asking the band to weigh in on a critical question: who has hotter girls, Ozzfest or Warped Tour? Their answer? Warped Tour wins, but it comes with a disclaimer about the dubious age of some of the emo girls in attendance.
Haste the Day also talk about their hometown of Indianapolis, sharing a funny story about spotting the Colts coach riding a bike, followed by a little person on the trail. The band doesn’t hold back, joking about political correctness and their interactions with Wee Man-esque characters.
When asked about their Christian identity, the band clarifies that while they’re all Christians with a strong faith, they prefer not to label themselves as a “Christian band.” Despite this, their values shine through in their music, and they’ve found that even non-Christian fans respect their authenticity and conviction.
As the conversation gets looser (and weirder), Ryan reveals a gnarly rash from working the Warped Tour crowd, the guys joke about getting aloe vera from a blonde girl, and they talk about their tour schedule, playing the first month of Warped Tour before heading back home. They mention an upcoming run with A Dying Dream in November.
Throughout the interview, Haste the Day shows their goofy side, goofing off about dirt clouds, fake palm trees, and Gumball soup.
The band also reminisces about San Diego being one of their favorite cities, not just for the music scene, but because one member’s girlfriend lives there.
