Elton John to Appear on New Queens of the Stone Age Album

by | Feb 7, 2013

As if the roster of guest appearances for the upcoming Queens of the Stone Age album wasn’t impressive enough — add Elton John to the list of collaborators.

John appeared on Chelsea Lately Wednesday and spoke to Dave Grohl (who’s been filling in as guest host) about recording a song with the band.

“I was in Vegas and I flew back to L.A. and Engelbert Humperdinck had written me a very sweet letter and asked me to sing a duet with him,” John said. “Then I drove three blocks and went from Engelbert to Queens Of The Stone Age, which was a bit of a mindfuck.”

In addition to Grohl and John appearing on the next QOTSA record, Trent Reznor, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, and original bassist Nick Oliveri will lend their talents to the album. The effort is expected out sometime this year.
