Former Queens of the Stone Age Bassist Arrested After S.W.A.T. Standoff

by | Jul 13, 2011

Former Queens of the Stone Age and current Kyuss Lives! bassist Nick Oliveri got into an intense standoff with a S.W.A.T. team at his L.A. home last night, where police found a high-powered loaded rifle, reports TMZ.

Police were called to the home after a neighbor called 911 to report a “disturbance” between Oliveri and his girlfriend.

The girlfriend reportedly told police that he struck her during an argument the day prior, and came to the house to collect her stuff so she could move out.

Oliveri locked themselves inside the duplex, refused to allow police inside the residence, and would not let the girlfriend leave.

A S.W.A.T. team was called to the scene, as a standoff ensued. Oliveri let the girlfriend go after two hours, and turned himself over two hours following.

Police found a high powered, fully loaded rifle at the residence after searching the home.

Oliveri was booked on felony domestic violence, and has since been released after posting $100,000 bail.
