Korn Goes Dubstep with New Album, Gamers Launch Petition to Stop ‘Silent Hill’ Theme Song

by | Jun 11, 2011

Korn has been at work on a new album with dubstep-style influence, having already collaborated with a handful of producers for the new material.

“We’ve collaborated with six, maybe seven dubstep producers on the new record,” bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu tells NME. “I’ve done my parts, I think Jonathan [Davis, singer] has a couple of vocal takes still to do, but it’s almost done.”

The band released its first dubstep-influenced track, “Get Up”, last month, which was produced by Skrillex.

In other Korn news, the band has been tracking a theme song for the upcoming Silent Hill: Downpour video game, which is being strongly unfavored by gamers, who launched a petition to stop the effort.

“A nu metal band simply does not belong in Silent Hill,” the petition states, “and especially not one that deals with teenage angst themes.”

The entitre petition can be found here.
