O’BROTHER Covered Portishead’s “Silence”

by | Oct 10, 2016

Things are about to get hectic for O’Brother. The band are about to kick off a US trek this week supporting The Dillinger Escape Plan on their farewell tour. And if that’s not enough, they recently did a rad cover of a Portishead song.

O’Bro tackled Portishead’s track “Silence,” which comes off the group’s 2008 album Third.

Vocalist Tanner Merritt told PopMatters,

“Third is collectively one of our favorite records and I can say personally that the bookends of this record (the opening and closing track) are my favorite. So for our first time ever recording a cover, we decided to do two. Silence is part one of this two part series that we self-recorded in our rehearsal space for shiggles, and we had a blast learning and recreating and paying homage to one of the best bands.”

O’Brother will be out supporting their latest album, Endless Light.
