SUMAC: When Members of ex-ISIS, Baptists, & Russian Circles Get Together

by | Sep 4, 2014

Here’s a new band that’s worth nothing to all of your friends, they’re called Sumac. The band features former Isis vocalist/guitarist Aaron Turner and Baptists drummer Nick Yacyshyn, and they recently finished work on their forthcoming debut album that’s due out early next year.

The upcoming record is titled The Deal, and all the bass on the album was done by Brian Cook of Russian Circles. Though it doesn’t look like Cook will be a permanent member of the band, he is expected to join the group whenever possible for live performances. Pretty awesome.

Anyway, the album was recorded with Mell Dettmer at Litho and Aleph in Settle, WA and was mixed by Kurt Ballou of Converge at his own God City studios in Salem, MA.

The record is due out in February 2015, so hang tight. We’ll keep you posted on more.
