Top 10 Releases of 2014

As you get older you’ll hear people say things like “music today isn’t what it used to be” or “bands now a days don’t do it right” — we beg to differ. If anything, music in 2014 has been better than ever, and the following list is a testament to that. Here are our favorite releases that came out this year; it includes a few EPs and a handful of albums that showcase truly amazing work. Thanks to all these bands for giving our ears something fun to get off to.

Watch an Hour Long Documentary of THE CHARIOT’s Farewell Tour

It’s hard to believe that The Chariot played their last show a year ago. And while we love us some ’68, The Chariot will always hold a special place in our hearts. The band took the stage in November 2013 for their final show ever in their hometown of Douglasville, GA. The farewell trek leading up to that show was documented and turned into an hour long film.

’68’s New Video Will Make You 69

Well…it’ll at least get you in the mood. The new band of former The Chariot frontman Josh Scogin looks like they’ll be staying pretty busy for the upcoming months. Their debut album In Humor and Sadness came out this year and they’ll be supporting it on the road for the foreseeable future.

STICK TO YOUR GUNS, THE AMITY AFFLICTION, BEING AS AN OCEAN, & ’68 to Tour

Holy cow. Stick To Your Guns will headline a North American tour early next year with The Amity Affliction, Being As An Ocean, ’68, and In Hearts Wake. They’ll be out supporting their new album Disobedient, which is due on February 10th via Sumerian Records.

If ’68’s debut album In Humor and Sadness isn’t one of the best releases put out this year, we don’t know anything about anything. The band of former The Chariot frontman Josh Scogin has left quite an impression on the music community, and they’re about to finish this year strong with one last hurrah — in the US and overseas.
