Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has released a statement regarding his recent lymphoma diagnosis.
Commenting on Facebook, Iommi stated “I just want to say how overwhelmed I am with all your messages of support, thank you so much.
Well it’s not what I wanted for Christmas, that’s for sure, but now I can’t wait for the test results to come in and get going with the treatment.
Billboard is reporting that Black Sabbath were one of the planned headliners for this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, but were forced to pull out just before yesterday’s lineup announcement due to guitarist Tony Iommi’s recent lymphoma diagnosis.

According to a posting on Facebook, “Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan–the ‘IRON MAN’ of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.”
Black Sabbath is currently in the UK writing material for their first album in 33 years.

Black Sabbath has confirmed that it will begin work on its first studio album in 33 years with producer Rick Rubin.
Additionally, the band will headline Download Festival in the UK on June 10th, with a worldwide tour to follow.
