Well I’ll be damned, the mighty Silver Snakes are back in the studio working on a new record. Last year we put their album Year of the Snake on our Top 10 Releases of 2014 because it was dark and moody and 90s-inspired, just how we like it. This new one…well, we’re pretty excited.
As you get older you’ll hear people say things like “music today isn’t what it used to be” or “bands now a days don’t do it right” — we beg to differ. If anything, music in 2014 has been better than ever, and the following list is a testament to that. Here are our favorite releases that came out this year; it includes a few EPs and a handful of albums that showcase truly amazing work. Thanks to all these bands for giving our ears something fun to get off to.
Look out, Europe. Silver Snakes will be heading your way early next year supporting Pianos Become The Teeth. Also in tow will be New Native.
We had a feeling this was coming and boy are we glad it is. United Nations (ex-Thursday, Pianos Become The Teeth) will be touring the West Coast with the mighty Silver Snakes and Sick Feeling (11/4-11/09) this fall.
