Animals as Leaders Guitarist Unlawfully Arrested in Boston

Animals as Leaders guitarist Javier Reyes was unlawfully arrested by the Boston Police Department last Saturday morning. The band was forced to cancel their show in Toronto on Wednesday with Thrice and O’Brother because Reyes was due in court.

According to reports, the band and a group of friends were leaving a Boston bar early morning Saturday when a police officer aggressively approached a member of their party, accusing the person of interfering with a police investigation. The officer reportedly slammed the civilian against a wall and handcuffed him.

When Reyes pulled out his cell phone to record the incident, the officer reportedly shoved his face into a wall and arrested him.

Guitarist Tosin Abasi reportedly was then pushed into the side of a police cruiser and asked if he was trying to assault an officer.

A complaint letter written by a witness can be found below.

Update 4:09pm PDT – A petition has been launched to exonerate Reyes of all charges.
