RX Bandits Interview: Creativity, Fan Dedication & Musical Roots

by | Jul 18, 2013

If you’ve been a longtime RRS reader, you may remember one of our very first video interviews ever, done back in 2009 with RX Bandits. That one — filled with cheap beer and long talks of Fugazi — was conducted a few months before Mandala came out. And since it’s already been four years, we felt it necessary to do a follow-up.

Today we’re in the basement of Hollywood’s Fonda Theatre for round two of our RX Bandits interrogation with frontman Matt Embree and guitarist Steve Choi. The group is currently in the middle of their summer US tour, performing their 2003 album The Resignation in its entirety. If you haven’t heard their latest Covers EP, check it out — it includes renditions of songs by Fugazi, Blonde Redhead, Weezer, and King Crimson.

P.S.  For those of you who are fans of Choi’s project Peace’d Out with Vinnie Caruana (I Am The Avalanche/ex-The Movielife), they’re wrapping up a full-length album. Details for that are coming soon.
