RX Bandits: There’s a New Album on the Way

by | Jan 27, 2014

Several years ago when we started doing video interviews, one of our first ones was done with RX Bandits. Remember when we drank beer, talked about music & technology, and Steve Choi told us about an Olympic-size swimming pool at some kid’s house?

That interview was done a few months before Mandala came out, which was a stellar album. “White Lies” stoned — hot damn. Anyway, if you’re an RXB fan you should know that the band have been holed away at the Elizabethan (their top secret studio in SoCal) writing a follow-up to Mandala. This will be the first RXB full-length effort in five years and they’ll be putting the record out on their own label (not sure if that means Matt Embree’s Mash Down Babylon Records or what).

To help fund the release they’ve launched a PledgeMusic campaign — which you can donate to here. And for $1000 you can ride some waves with Matt Embree himself.

To that we say surf’s up.

Deafheaven Interview: George Clarke & Kerry McCoy on their Success & The World of Blogging

It’s hard to imagine that Deafheaven’s success all spawned off the release of their 2010 demo. Even frontman George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy are among the disbelievers, especially since they recorded the four-track effort out of boredom. Since...
