Antemasque (The Mars Volta): Listen to Omar & Cedric’s New Band With Flea

by | Apr 9, 2014

When we interviewed Omar Rodriguez-Lopez a couple years ago he mentioned how he needed some space away from The Mars Volta. After some time apart, he and TMV vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala are back with a new project — it’s called Antemasque

What’s interesting about this band is that Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers is part of the group. This shouldn’t come as too much of a shocker though as Flea appeared on some of the early Volta records, and the dudes have had a longtime relationship with RHCP.

You know who else is in the band? Ex-Volta drummer David Elitch, who’s been playing with the supergroup Killer Be Killed as of late — ya know, the project featuring members of Soulfly, Dillinger, and Mastodon.

Anyway, here’s the new track from Antemasque called “4AM,” along with a behind the scenes look of writing the track.
