BARROWS: The Red Giant Has Entered the Building

by | May 2, 2014

Aren’t these some fine lookin’ gentlemen? Don’t let their dashing appearances fool you though because deep down there’s a snarling beast patiently waiting to be summoned. You’ve heard us talk before about the Los Angeles instrumental monstrosity that is Barrows. They’re like a mix of Russian Circles, Mogwai, Red Sparowes, and the planet Neptune all rolled in one.

The band played a show at our Haus the other month and we can’t tell you how excited we are for a follow-up release to their 2011 debut album Imprecari Island Their new record is appropriately called Red Giant, and it was recorded with Toshi Kasai (Melvins, Tool), Dale Crover (Melvins), and mastered by Chris Common (who you know from These Arms Are Snakes, who also worked with Palms and others, and more recently the new Mylets album).

Here’s a new song from the mighty Barrows. Feast your ears into this 8-minute tune, the title track from their forthcoming album that comes out next Tuesday.
