Deftones have started recording their seventh studio album, expected out in September/October.

While it was previously reported that Deftones will enter the studio in summer to record their new album, frontman Chino Moreno has since confirmed that the band will begin tracking their seventh record next week.
According to a recent interview conducted at Quilmes Rock Festival in Argentina (see below), a September/October release is expected.
Deftones recently finished pre-production on their seventh album and will enter the studio on July 9th to begin tracking the effort.
In an Spanish interview with Latercera.com, frontman Chino Moreno said “I am very excited about [it] because it sounds futuristic compared to our last album, Diamond Eyes — so it feels like a step forward.”
Update 4/4/12, 3:44pm PST – Chino Moreno has since confirmed that the band will begin tracking the record next week, not this summer.
A track from the upcoming film The Raid: Redemption, featuring Deftones/Crosses frontman Chino Moreno, has surfaced online. Stream “Razors Out” below.
The soundtrack was done by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and Joe Trapanese, who worked on the Tron: Legacy score.
The film opens on March 23rd in North America.

Chi Cheng Showing Signs of Improvement
Deftones bassist Chi Cheng continues to show signs of improvement following a November 2008 car accident that has since left him in a semi-conscious state. Video footage of Cheng lifting his legs on request can be viewed below.
